Grape Harvest

In September & October each year the grape vines at Llanerch Vineyard are at their peak sugar and acid levels, and are ready to be picked to be processed into wine.

It is very important to ensure that the grapes are picked at exactly the right time, in order to produce the best possible wine. Sometimes we will only know this the day before.

With up to 12 tones of grapes to pick its a big job, however each of the different varieties will ripen at slightly different times, meaning that we can break the picking up into five separate days.

Once picked our grapes are boxed and loaded onto a lorry and driven to three choirs where they are pressed the same day and processed into wine.
